The Police Department has an animal control officer who is responsible for investigating and following up on animal complaints and enforcing state and local ordinances related to domestic animals.  This officer is also responsible for determining the disposition of stray domestic animals found within the city. Additional responsibilities of the Animal Control Officer include inspections of animal keeping facilities, public education and oversight of a dog licensing program.  Animal Control only becomes involved in wildlife management issues when the wild animal is posing a threat to public safety or when the animal is sick or injured. If you need assistance with a stray animal, please call 911.
