Parks Maintenance
Parks Maintenance is responsible for the care, maintenance and enhancement of 55 City parks totaling approximately 1,400 acres, the equivalent of over 2 square miles. The parks provide opportunities for the casual user, reserved functions, scheduled youth and adult athletic leagues, and programs while also preserving tracts of undeveloped land containing many unique natural features.

Nearly 500 acres of the park land is maintained as turf. The wide variety of natural and developed amenities found within the parks includes trails, athletic fields, pavilions and shelters, tennis courts, playgrounds, prairies, ponds, woodlands and open play space. During the winter, general skating and hockey rinks are developed and maintained at sites throughout the City. Each of the natural features and park amenities has specific maintenance needs requiring a skilled and experienced staff.
